Can I use protein shakes to replace meals and loose weight?

Im trying to loose weight but I heard protein shakes are better to use. Is it ok to use protein shakes as a meal replacement? Kind of like slim fast
Answer:
no because if you will lose weight then it would be muscle tissue rather than fat. besides as soon you start eating normal again you will gain weight, typical yoyo effect. proper protein shakes(not slimfast) should be taken when you exercise in order to help your body to burn fat and to turn it into lean muscle. but as i said it only works if you exercise regularly
yumm.. sounds good.. go for it.
You could but you'll still get hunger pangs... no ones going to advise you to do that...and you'll get bored very fast...
try 3 protien shakes aday (go to holland %26 barretts and get a big tub) eat ceriel instead of your main meals...and snack on fruit.if your doing this do 2 days on 1 day off...you cant use protien shakes on therer own you'll literally be starving!...you can get hunger surpressent tablets from healthfood shops as well...only problem (AGAIN) that could occur because your not getting the right nutrients your skin may become dull,spotty...think about it!!
drastic weight loss is never the answer!
only for breakfast i think. theirs way better protein shakes than slim fast. if u take em every meal u actually gain weight
If you are going to use a MRP (meal replacement powder) you should make sure it has lots of nutrients, and is low in fat. You want something that is relatively low in calories as well obviously. I replaced 2 meals a day (not as hard as it seems) with shakes and dropped 15lbs in less than 3 weeks. Make sure you are still eating one good meal a day, and have small snacks throughout the day. Try sugar snap peas and baby carrots for something that is healthy and yummy. Just make sure not to use dressing as that adds loads of calories! Cut out your coffee intake too, at least the sugary, creamy drinks. 1 coffee drink can have as many as 700 calories! If you do decide on coffee, make sure and use low fat or soy milk, and avoid any extras. Drip black coffee is the best when you are dieting.
Back to the protein shakes, my favourite brand is MuscleMilk LIGHT- less calories, great taste, its amazing. They have all sorts of flavours. You can usually find it at GNC or any other vitamin store.
actually my friend who's a model
he recommended me protein shakes so i decided to try it out and yes it worked i got some on line from http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/dya/pr... they are quiet good and taste fab
as long as you are taking in less calories than you would normally ( normally when maintaining your weight,) you will loose weight.Protien shake or whatever.Dont try to substitue all foods for protien shakes. As delicious as you may find them they will omit the 5 a day fruit and vegetables you need to have, and popping vitamin pills wont cover you, there are some vitamins which are only soluable within their pulped state or non juiced state.
Also remember that many protien shakes have added sugars to make them more palletable. This means alot of sugar will be left on your teeth and will start to erode the enamel. As you would have normally hadfood to get rid of some of this enamel by chewing and swallowing food, the acid would normally be far more diluted on your teeth, but as you wouldnt be eating so much there is nothing to do this, hence the acid lingering for far longer. Believe it or not water doenst do an awful lot in terms or getting rid of alot of this acid- some but not all, and brushing your teeth can often be too abrasive and cause you to rub the acid further into the enale and into your teeth. Once you ruin your teeth? its dentures or nothing! Also you will be risking having off-the-diet days if you give up eating all solids. It would be normal to crave different textures and as this wouldnt be part of your new diet, it would have to be that you would be breaking your diet to eat anything. It may be hard to stop eating once you have started.Try to get some help from a nutritionist or dietition as each protien shake will be produced for different reasons, some as meal replacements, some as muscle building others to gain weight.
I would suggest a cleansing diet. I did this and lost 12 pounds and 17 inches in 9 days and then 28 pounds in about a month. I like the program since it works by giving your body nutrition through protein shakes with digestive enzymes and vitamins and then cleansing out the toxins. We get toxins in our bodies from pesticides, preservatives, water, pollution, medications, food additives etc鈥? These toxins enter our bodies and get coated with fat. To remove the extra fat, we need to get rid of the toxins through cleansing. The program also has a natural diet pill to help your metabolism and curb cravings. It works and it works fast. I lost 30 pounds in 5 weeks and I feel great. My skin has improved as well from the cleansing. You can get more info at this toll free number 1-877-587-4647. I think cleansing is really important to health and weight loss. Give it a try and good luck! http://losebigweight.com
Digestion of food starts in your mouth by chewing your food. Your saliva contains amylase, which is an enzyme that breaks down food. When you chew and swallow, you also give your brain the message that you are eating. They say that you should chew your food something like 20 times before you swallow it (by that time the food is very small and you've got all the taste out of it). They say this for a reason. This process is called eating and it is very beneficial for you. It is a good thing when you want to lose weight because your brain will believe that you've actually eaten something.
If you drink liquid food you haven't gone through this eating process so you won't digest your food that well and because you haven't chewed, your brain will think you haven't eaten. Yes, you've had a drink but that's not food. I would advise that you eat healthy meals with good mixtures of quality protein, complex carbohydrates and essential fatty acids. That way you satisfy your palate, your brain and perhaps it will be easier for you to lose weight too. Those protein shakes are there just to top up your protein intake but you shouldn't use them as meal replacement substances even if they are called meal replacement shakes. Enjoy your food!
Yes you would but it would be mainly muscle and you would not get enough vitamins etc and when you have finished this silly diet you would gain more weight than you lost.
