Can being depressed allow you to gain weight?

Answer:
Yes.. a lot of people have a tendency to gain weight when they are depressed.. But it can be due to all or one of these reasons.. a) A desire to fill the empty feeling inside you with food ( Feeling od depression)
b) Decreased physical activity due to a loss of interest in moving at all
c).. An Increase in cortisol levels .. leading to bloating , water retension and in extreme cases , and over several months etc.. a fat gain.
Yes for several reasons. Some medications will cause weight gain. Depression often makes one feel like they don't want to do the activities they usually do so less activity = gaining weight. Also some ppl will eat more as a side effect of depression.
But of course. Sometimes when we feel down, we aren't as picky about what we eat, etc.
some people to gain weight when they are depressed. some lose it. you must be like some of us who are just unlucky in that area. i have gained weight when i get depressed.
Allow? Like weight has to have permission to store on your body. I think i know what you mean, so here is my two cents. It definately has an effect on your weight. Depression has shown to aid in cellulite storage in certain places of your anatomy. Depression is definately not where you want to be when you are concerned about you weight. And when you are concerned about your weight sometimes people get depressed. Huh, funny how that works.
Stress will always push you towards being fatter or thinner than you want, its like it makes your metabolism a more extreme version of itself.
yeah. you tend turn to food for comfort when you're depressed.
