Can anyone calculate how many calories i need to eat to loose 5Ibs. I weight 120 now and are 5'2, 26 yrs old.

I work out, but like to eat as well :-)
Answer:
You don't sound like you need to lose weight to me.
its not necessarily how many calories you eat, its how many you burn off.5lbs isnt too hard to lose, it just requires a few real good jogs.
i dont know how many calories you generally take in or how many calories you burn off from exercising, but running is the way to go.it maybe not be "easy", but it works.
good luck!
Why do you need to lose 5 pounds? You are not overweight. If you don't like the way your clothes fit or your body looks then do some toning but you do not need to lose any weight.
I am assuming that you are currently at 15% body fat and moderately active. A rough estimate - you would need around 2000 cal per day just to maintain your body weight. To loose weight, you can create a deficit of 200-300 calories a day. As the user above mentioned, loosing 5 lbs should be easy.On a side-note, I think 120 lbs is perfect.
Always Think Fit:First step in exercise is to always Think FIT. To make physical improvements, you need to work your body harder than usual. This is referred to as the overload principle. As your body becomes more conditioned, you need to increase the frequency, intensity, or time of your workouts in order to continue improving your fitness levelChoosing an Exercise:
The best exercise is an activity that you enjoy enough to really pursue enthusiastically.
鈥ndoor (Facility) Activities: If the treadmill, stairmaster, rowing machine or stationery cycle doesn't excite you, sample some group activities that strike your fancy. Participate in a group cycling class, beat stress with yoga, find balance with martial arts, stay cool with indoor swimming, or kick some you-know-what with boxaerobics.1. Change your eating habits (i.e. start eating smaller portions of food) before if you ate a full plate of food try eating 2/3 of a plate instead.
2.
o Substitute aspartame for sugar
o Try eating 3 or 4 smaller meals during the day rather than 2 large ones
o Eat your main large meal at midday with the other meals much smaller in content
o Don't eat heavy meals late in the evening as the body wont have time to digest it so it ends up stored as fat in your body.
o Balance your meals out during the day so in one day you have a mix of protein, carbohydrate and vitamins
o Drink lots of water during the day and before, during and after exercise, you should drink at least 8 big glasses of water per 24 hours
o Drink alcohol in moderation
o Stop smoking if you smoke or cut down
o Eat more fibre i.e. pulses grains nuts, pasta, brown rice, cereals, fresh fruit
o Eat more vegetables as part of your diet
o Eat less dairy products or choose those with less fat content i.e. cottage cheese
o Try steaming or poaching food instead of frying it, frying adds calories by the bucketful
o Cut down on Red meat and eat more lean or better still chicken and fish instead
o Use low fat oils in cooking i.e. sunflower, corn or Mazola
o Cut down on your salt intake, there are hidden salts even in tinned foods
o Try substituting carrots or fresh fruit instead of biscuits and sweetmeat when you have a craving for something in between meals.
o Drink semi or skimmed milk as opposed to full cream
Simply choose a diet which is low in fat and cholesterol, moderate in sugar and salt and high in fibre but at the same time has a variety of everything thus making it a balanced diet.Calculate your BMR!!
BMR means Basal Metabolic Rate.It is used to estimate how many calories you should consume.By using a simple formula called the Harris-Benedict principle, you can assess your BMR.
Your BMR is the amount of energy your body needs to function. Then, to lose weight, you'll need to cut calories or burn extra calories and shoot for a level lower than the results you get with this formula.
We use about 60 percent of the calories we consume each day for basic bodily functions such as breathing.Other factors that influence your BMR are height, weight, age and sex.
Step One : Calculate your BMR with the following formula:
鈥omen: BMR = 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)
鈥en: BMR = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)
Step two : In order to incorporate activity into your daily caloric needs, do the following calculation:
鈥f you are sedentary : BMR x 1.2
鈥f you are lightly active: BMR x 1.375
鈥f you are moderately active (You exercise most days a week.): BMR x 1.55
鈥f you are very active (You exercise daily.): BMR x 1.725
鈥f you are extra active (You do hard labor or are in athletic training.): BMR x 1.9
Create a Calorie Deficit:
In order to lose weight, you must create a calorie deficit. It is easier and healthier to cut back your calorie intake a little bit at a time.
Every 3,500 calories is equivalent to 1 pound.
If you cut back 500 calories a day, you will lose 1 pound per week.
If you exercise to burn off 500 calories a day you will also lose 1 pound per week.
Ideally, you should do a combination of both, (e.g. cut back 250 calories; burn an extra 250 calories).

Can anybody offer advice? i can't believe myself.?

iv basically been on a 3 day binge! i had been successful for 8 weeks on my diet and feeling fantastic and so proud of myself. now i just feel disgusted with myself, i cant believe what i have eaten and i know i wont have lost weight this week and will be so disappointed. i wish i could take it back. i dont know what to do to sort my diet or my head out!
Answer:
When anxiety, fear, loneliness, anger, guilt or any uncomfortable emotion becomes too difficult to control, food provides a powerful distraction.Food changes the chemical balance in the body. some foods increase endorphin levels, which in turn creates a sense of happiness or contentment. We associate being full with comfort. Fullness increases comfort, which counteracts negative emotions. And if a person eats past fullness to discomfort, the physical sensation distracts the mind from other problems. Eating also takes time, time that might otherwise be spent thinking negative thoughts.Of course, afterwards, we feel guilty and then go on a new diet or fast or get involved in a heavy exercise routine to try and fix the heavy load of calories consumed. But what most of us find out is that this is a continual cycle that will appear again in hours, days, weeks or maybe even months from now. Please take the time to go to your local library and get a book on eating disorders to help yourself with this problem.
Just get back on the wagon. Three days won't make or break you. I would take a closer look at your diet, though, because there is something that you're missing that would cause you to go on a 3-day binge! Maybe you need to loosen the reins a little to make the diet more balanced.
you cannot take it back as you must have already noticed, i often feel like this too but since you can't take it back you must burn it off or go on a diet, also it IS OK to have those nights when you eat a lot of calories but not all the time and you should be in shape if you DO do this. as said by izzie on grey's anatomy, "i beleive that if i eat a whole tub of butter at 12 o'clock in the morning and nobody sees me then the calories dont count"
You're not going to ruin all your hard work with a three-day binge. It's OK if you don't lose weight this week. Just go back on your diet and carry on. Consider it a pit stop on the road to success.
When you were doing well on your diet, did you have foods that you cut out completely? What I have found is that if I totally cut out certain foods and I don't allow myself to have some when I crave them, then eventually I just can't take it anymore and I'll eat as much of it as I can. If that is what you did, then I suggest that you allow yourself to eat foods that you enjoy, just in moderation. That way you won't go crazy and eat everything in 3 days. Good luck!
STOP BEATING YOUR SELF UP! We all fall off the wagon. ( Lord knows I do) Tomorrow is a new day, in stead of beating yourself up just say it was a reward for doing so good for 8 weeks. This is why diets don't work, we get sick of the "diet" stuff, just remember all in moderation. You have done a great job, stop being so hard on yourself.
every diet out there is prone to such a binge. don't feel bad about it just get yourself out of the habit of "dieting" instead replace it with the notion of healthy eating. allow yourself one day a week to mess up, this will keep you from craving and binging. healthy eating consists of watching your portion sizes (fist size for carbs, palm size for meats, but unlimited fruits, veggies and most important WATER! i recommend 2 liters a day...it will help keep you full if you drink several hundred mL before you eat. change your frequency of eating also. instead of 3 squares do something like this: 9am- breakfast, 11am snack, 1pm lunch, 3pm snack, 5pm dinner, 7pm snack. eating so frequently prevents your body from going into starvation mode (as it does every 3 hours you go without food). when your body is in starvation mode anything you eat will automatically be stored as fat. let me recommend this book to you: "Eating for Life" by Bill Philips which outlines what I've just told you much better.
Relax, you can undo your weight gain by sticking to your diet
Here's a few tips from the bodyclock diet to help you optimizing your body fat burning capacity.- You should eat a big breakfast, and end it with light lunch and dinner. Body clock diet insist that foods eaten in the morning will convert into energy and get burned easier than foods eaten at night.- Start your day with eating high protein breakfast.- Grains and cereals should be only done in the morning to complement our body clock schedule. While dinner should involves low carbs.- Get used to wake up at the same time everyday. That will let our body to adjust itself to control the production of melatonin hormone. The melatonin triggered the sleep, so by keeping the same gap between waking up and sleeping will ensure a constant peak of melatonin during the night. This will lead into a healthier life and better sleep.- Morning sun will heat the temperature in your body. So make sure your dining room gets a lot of sunlight. It warms up your body and set your internal clock in tune faster, your body temperature, energy and alertness will be optimized during the day.

Can anybody help me in loosing weight?

Hi iam 26 yrs old and overweight.can u give some effective methods which works for reducing weight.
I dont wanna go for Hard Exercises.I am purely Vegeterian. Please suggest a vegeterian diet plan.
My marriage is at stake.PLs help me!!
Answer:
You will need to increase your protien intake for this to work for you. More grains, nuts, etc.
This is a serious answer. I hope it helps.*If want to get fit and/or lose weight, here's my Weight Loss Program through Body Building and Nutrition. It works! First, don't Use Diet Pills. They are bad for you. Most of them are just a scam or they are addictive. Counting calories is a pain in the neck. It will drive you nuts. But, losing weight is simple. You just have to do the right things.
*(If you are older and have not exercised in many years you should see your doctor and have a stress test done to be sure your heart is ok before starting this program. Also, walking eveyday is a good lifelong practice.)
*Fad diets sometimes work but, you can be sure that at least 25% of the weight you lose will be muscle. Then when you stop the diet you will gain back all of the weight you lost but no muscle. So, you will have 25% more fat than you did before! Fad diets just aren't worth the bother.
*Fasting or skipping meals will teach your body that famine is common in your world and your body will begin to store more fat to get you through the next period when food is not available. It's better to eat healthy foods often to teach your body that food is plentiful and that there is no need to store calories as fat. Eat a vegetablw or frui every two hours.
*Here's a simple trick that can help you lose weight without doing anything else. Drink a litre of water as soon as you wake up in the morning and then drink two more throughout the day. You'll notice a difference the first month.
*Here's another trick that works. For every pound of muscle that you add, your body will burn 3000 calories (1lb) of fat every day. That means that just by having an extra pound of muscle on your body you will burn a pound of fat every day! So, add muscle!
*This is the fastest way to add a pound of muscle. Squats and Pushups! You do them on alternate days; squats one day, pushups the next. And you do them SuperSlow style. That is, you do the easy part twice as slow as the hard part. That way you fatigue the muscles quickly. Then you rest the muscles for 48 hours which gives the body a chance to make new muscles.
*Squats should be done with a wide stance and all the way to the floor. Pushups the with palms shoulder width apart and all the way to the floor, then all the way up. Use the full range of motion of the muscle group you are trying to develop. If you are too weak to do pushups, try them with your knees on the floor or do them with your feet on the floor and your hands an the bed.
*The idea is to tire the muscles out completely so do a set of squats until you can't do another, then rest for a couple of minutes and do it again. Do that 3 times and you're done for the day. The following day, don't do squats but do pushups. Do them the same way, going down twice as slow as you come up.
*You will lose weight fast, unless you add more junk food and fat to your diet. Instead, eat at least 5 to 7 different raw vegetables and fruits every day. Cut out anything that comes in a bag, box, can, bottle or any kind of package. In other words, cut out all processed foods, soft drinks and sweets. Eat more grains and less red meat. Check out the
Food Pyramid.
*If you really want to give your body the best possible chance to be healthy and fat free, go to infinity2.com and order their weight loss formula and Essentials for Life. That will give you all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and probiotics that your body needs and will keep you feeling better and healthier. They also have a Proteabolic Mass Formula for serious athletes who want to build muscle mass quickly and
safely.
*Weight loss without exercise is not good. You need to eat healthy, exercise and get your rest. You will feel better, look better and be healthier. Try it for a week. You will notice a difference. You will feel better and that will motivate you to continue.
*Losing weight only in specific areas of the body is impossible. You can't just lose weight around the belly, for instance. So, if you want tight, rippled abs, do crunches and leg raises every other day the way I
described above.
*One last point, stretching is essential for a number of reasons. Pick up a copy of ''Stretching'' by Bob Anderson. Read the intro and understand his reasoning before you do the exercisis. Good luck!
