Can drinking too much water make you fat?

I have tried this before by just drinking water and not a lot of calories yet my face and belly became bloated how can i prevent this and is it the water? i drunk at least 2 litres a day thankyou for any help xx
Answer:
When you say 'fat' literally, no water cant add fat to your body...because it has no fat content. Size-wise, water can, like you said make you bloated...many people have high water weights. Exercise exercise exercise! Watch what you eat, there is no easy way to lose weight besides portion control and exercise.
Nope.Drinking water can make you weigh more, but it doesn't contain any calories. Your body is probably retaining the water because you cut down on the calories and it is going into survival mode. Just eat properly, and keep drinking water and you should stop retaining it so much.
Water cannot make you gain any fat, but you can retain water weight. However, this is actually less likely to happen when you are well-hydrated. I bet it had something to do with caloric overrestriction.
I understand water to wash fat cells away.
they say ur suppose to drink 8 cups of water a day. try that instead.
In a sense it is the water, however not directly the water. You are retaining so much water probably because you are taking in a lot of sodium. If you cut your sodium intake, this problem will go away for the most part.
Drinking a lot of water can't actually make you fat. But your body may retain a lot of the water weight which may make you bloat up. Make sure you're not eating a lot of salty things, which make you retain water. And also make sure you are eating enough calories, your body may be trying to hold on to anything it gets if your not eating enough, which may make you lose less weight.
if you are retaining enough water to make your face and belly bloat like that, then you are probably eating way too much salt. To assist your body in flushing your system with the water eat foods that are rich in potassium, it is a better diuretic than most.
Well you are only supposed to have at least 6 to 8 cups a day but I really don't think water can make you gain weight maybe your drinking too much at one time and it's making your stomache feel big or bloated.
It can make you bloated- but not fat.
The only things water can do for you is hydrate you and bloat you. Water will not make you gain CONCRETE weight at all! But if you just drank 16 oz of water then run to jump on the scale, it will read as one lb heavier. Whatever you take in no matter if its Diet Coke, Water, Lettuce, tomatoes, or cheeseburgers your weight will change right after you intake them. Remember: this is NOT concrete weight it doesn't mean you've gained anything at all. Its important to weight yourself first thing in the morning right after your body has been fasting. But in regards to my ACTUAL advice: intake less water. The 2L is doing great things for your body, but if it is making you feel uncomfortable then take it down a notch. But don't worry the bloating is purely a weight fluctuation
Hi, I'm an Italian student of pharmaceutical chemistry (sorry for my english!) water is really good for your healthy and can help also during diets. Drinking about two litres of water per day can help you with problems of hidric ritention. During diets are infact very popolar diuretics because they can help the elimination of an excess of liquid and discard things. It absolutly can't make you fat (your belly can blow immediately but if you go to the toilet you don't have such these problems!). Anyway you have to do physic exercise and eating healthy food (not just poor of calories) if you want to loose weight
