Can this count as an exercisese that raises my heart rate?

I asked a question just a few minutes ago about weight loss. One answer I got was somebody who suggested that in order to lose weight, i should do an exercise at least 3 times a week that raisses my heart rate for about 30 minutes..I know this is going to sound silly but...
For example, I spent from 8am-12pm cleaning my house yesterday. Vacuuming, moving things around, standing up on chairs to dust over door ways. (doing some REAL spring cleaning!!)... After just an hour of cleaning, i was sweating and i could feel my heart pumping.
would activity such as this count towards rasing my heart rate for 30 minutes? even though its not real exercises like the ones at the gym/walking/running/etc...
Answer:
it definatelly counts!! as long as your heart rate is raised, you are burning calories!! ps. any chance you can come clean my house too?!?!?!
If you're heart is beating you're not cheating. Yes, that definitely counts. And good thing you're cleaning.
Sort of yes. That is spending calories and raising your heart rate. But in reality, what you need is a good intense 30 minuet cardio. You can even walk for excercise. Just remember you want to raise your heart rate. I go to the gym all the time and see people on the treadmill just ploding along reading a magazine. NO. When you walk for excercise it is fast and you should feel your heart pumping. You should use your whole body. Arms pumping and such. Hope this helps.
Try to get away from the trem exercise and focus more on time spent doing physical activity. Exercise has a negative connotation with much of the general public. Yes, cleaning, gardening, walking the dog, shoveling, etc all are physical activity. After incorporating such activities into your daily routine, next focus on your heart rate or level of perceived exertion (how are you felt the activity was for you to complete.) A good rule of thumb for many beginners is: if you can talk/ carry on a conversation, but are breathing heavy, you are probably in your target heart rate zone to best lose weight.
Cleaning a home is no easy task, but intense exercise will do a much better job of increasing the heart rate. The goal should be to get to 75% of your maximun heart rate.
House work is real exercise ! Heavy house work is usually considered moderate exercise; your spring cleaning project might count for a total of 4 hours of exercise. However when making your calculations be honest. I hope you took a few breaks and drank plenty of water. Examples of other real exercise include:
gardening;
yard work;
house painting biking
dancing
swimming You do not need to go to a gym to get exercise. However, you need to exercise more than 3 days a week. Exercise 5 or 6 days a week. This long session of house work probably buys you a day off. If you are stiff and sore today you might want to try some flexibilty or full range of motion exercises. Lots of examples are available; do a search.
